Key Highlights
- Installation of an acoustic sound barrier fence on behalf of the City of Ottawa along the O-Train Line providing a noise barrier between the railway and residential housing. The fence was installed to the following specifications:
- 280 metres long;
- 3 metres in height;
- 460 - 610mm diameter footings; and
- 3 – 5 metre deep footings.
- Footings dug using Hydro-Vac due to the close proximity of a private gas line.
- Installation and removal of a hoarding fence between the railway and work area overnight while trains were inactive.
- Removed existing pedestrian crossing, installed new fence and completed associated landscaping.
- Removal and disposal of dead vegetation and any vegetation in the direct path of the wall.
- Extensive safety control measures implemented and maintained throughout the duration of the project due to the close proximity to an active railway including working with a Flag Person during daytime work.
- Landscaping, including grading and seeding, as well as tree planting was conducted.
